The 6th International School and Symposium on Medical Devices and Biosensors (MDBS2009), in conjunction with the 4th International School and Symposium on Biomedical and Health Engineering (BHE2009) were held in Shenzhen, China on Dec 26-28, 2009. MDBS-BHE 2009 was intended to be an international forum for researchers and practitioners to exchange the latest research, results, and ideas in biomedical and health engineering.

Institute of Biomedical and Health Engineering (IBHE) is one of the key research divisions of Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is dedicated to develop innovative low-cost, miniaturized, integrated, networked, digitalized and smart (MINDS) medical instruments. It aims at becoming an international flagship research, development and personnel training platform in biomedical and health engineering, fostering the breakthrough in selected strategic areas including personalized medicine, biomedical imaging, nano medicine, wearable medical devices and body sensor networks, etc.. IBHE explores the solutions for existing serious healthcare problems threatened by hypertension, heart attack, cancer and other diseases, global aging population, and escalating healthcare costs, and provides vast opportunities and great benefits for better and affordable healthcare of mankind.
